Yes! Please call me if you'd like to groom for me for dressage and cones on Saturday? Thanks! |

Thanks Fiona, I have left a message For the Wottons about some lessons. And would love to come alone and have a look this weekend if I can get my long suffering BF to drive me! Does 9.5 stone class as lightweight ? :-) |

Hi, Cheryl, I suggest that you look at the BDS website and phone your local area commissioner to find a teacher. Instructors with showing and hdt experience near you might be Sharon and Derek Wootton, both Light Harness Horse Instructors, 01480 470395. I know they teach complete beginners and have endless patience! (This is not to say that anyone else on the list is not equally good!) Most instructors have a "schoolmaster" pony or horse for lessons and you could ask about breaking your pony to drive - some professional help is advisable, although you can do a lot of the groundwork yourself. Sallie Walrond's books are useful and practical - see ebay or amazon for new and second-hand copies. Why not come along to Ashfields this weekend (20-21 Sept) and meet some of us? See www.eacdg.co.uk for map and directions. You'd be very welcome to have a look at horses, ponies, carriages and ask lots of questions. We are very friendly and always want to encourage newcomers. (I need a lightweight groom to sit on the back of my carriage for dressage and cones for my 13-hand pony if you want to join in!?) Call 01473 735732 if you'd like a chat. |

Hi All, I am new here and just looking for some friendly advise on how you can get started with driving ? I have never thought to much about it until my 12'3 pony failed to keep growing and now I have a pony I love to bits but is really a bit too small for me to ride that needs a job. So thus here I am looking at maybe breaking him to drive. So how do I look at getting started ? I mean I know of riding school but not driving school... It is something I can learn for a good book ? or are there teacher locally (Milton Keynes) ? Many thanks for your help in advance... |
