Many thanks from the organising team to all the competitors at Windsor who left the stabling area so very tidy this year. Thank you, too, for complying with the ATV rules imposed by the Crown Estate. Hopefully we will be able to continue using these vehicles next year - we are apparently the only event held in the park which is allowed this privilege!

Wendy.....A plendid "posting" on am awful and wretched experience... Fiona.....Thank you.
And to JOHN NESBIT......I do so hope you see the COMMENDATIONS for your DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT on Sunday Morning. Your conduct emulated that of
a number of POLICE CONSTABLES in the Victorian Era of Horse Drawn Transport. Magnificent.

Hello. As the owner/driver of the miscreant in the Main Arena yesterday may I too add my heartfelt thanks to John Nesbit. You have no idea what was going through my mind as I saw him him line up with Tommy and grab the reins - and then to see him disappear underneath...
My partner, Patrick, who tried so hard to keep Tommy under control, has thanked John with a bottle of whisky - never has one been so well earned!
Our thanks too, to Wilf for taking Tommy back to the lorry and for all those who came to our aid. The expressions of sympathy and understanding have been much appreciated - as was the BHDTA cup of tea afterwards.
I have apologised to Roger Campbell (winner of the Novice Horse) for ruining his moment of glory and my apologies extend to Colin Wheeler, all the other drivers in the arena at the time and the cones course builder. My one thought was to avoid hitting anyone's horse or pony although the people in the catering marquee must have been thinking along the same lines as me - thank goodness Tommy has never liked jumping.
Up to that point we had had a fantastic time even though we dropped to last because of THAT bridge and all I can say is we will never forget our time at Windsor - if not for all the right reasons.
As you can imagine, several well wishers offered advice and opinion afterwards and, even though I felt very emotional, I did listen. However, sometimes you have to sort these things out for yourself and this morning we put to and took Tommy up to our dressage arena and had a trot round and all was well. It will take a bit of time to get my confidence back but I shall work on it. Any decisions on Tommy's future will be made in the fulness of time but I know one thing - he will never do another lap of such dishonour.
Thank you ALL once again.

Simon - thank you for your contribution to the excitement and interest of the day. I'm very glad you enjoyed your job.

I thoroughly enjoyed the event - with all the ups and downs competition brings. It is always a delight to meet the stewards and helpers (such as Derrick!). I think all the organisers and officials deserve to be appreciated for all their hard work - and the sponsors for supporting our sport. Long may it continue to thrive.

Commentating at Obstacles 1,2 and 3 at the weekend I was privileged to watch every single marathon competitor through the day. I would like to pay tribute to all you drivers and grooms who competed. My overriding impression was of the commitment shown by all, from novices in the morning, through juniors to teams.Congratulations to all National Champions and you all for making my job there very rewarding.

THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.....At real risk to himself can we acknowledge and thank our as yet unidentified HERO of the "Runaway" in the Main Arena on Sunday Morning. An unfortunate event likely to touch everyone of the Competitors then in the Arena.....terminated and made safe by his conduct.....Splendid

Derrick, the very brave guy was John Nisbet from Lockerbie. He certainly saved the day and we are all very grateful to him. His wife Amanda Nisbet (nee Saville) was not surprised at his actions, apparently he has done a similar thing before.

Geoff
