Hi I would suggest you email any of the junior reps on this web site. The juniors are a really friendly group and would welcome any new members. We have training weekends and camps just like pony club. The training is tailored to your ability and will either be individual or in a group of the same abilities. The whole family is welcome to come to the camps as helpers are always needed, and you never know they might want to start driving too. Hope to see you at some junior events. Amber |

Nicolette - we'd be your nearest horse driving trials club (East Anglian Carriage Driving Club -www.eacdg.co.uk ) and we have several keen young drivers. Drivers from 10 [and below at Eacdg] can compete in club events and training and we also have a training camp just for young drivers at Ashfields (quite near Stansted Essex) 12-14 August. Have a look at our website, Events page. An easy thing to do is just come along to all or part of one our events, without a pony to watch (or help) and talk to people. Visitors are welcome, and free, and it should be informal and friendly. - Next event is Saturday and Sunday 31st May at Euston near Therford (map on events page) - or call the secretary, Fiona, for more detail 01473 735732. These events run through the summer. In the rest of the year we run events indoors (see www.indoordriving.co.uk) which are also suitable for youngsters. |

Hi Nicolette I would reccomend you go to the British Driving Society website (if you type into Google it will be the first one). They have a network of area commisioners similar to the PC. What is going on in your area will depend on what the other people there have decided to do...but even if what they are doing is not your cup of tea most people dabble in a bit of showing and HDT so would be able to head you in the right direction for your area and let you know what is going on. This could be anything from drive outs to driven trec to small driving trials. The BDS also has a list of registered instructors if you wanted to go down that route. Also both BHDTA and BDS have junior/young driver programmes you could get involved in, there is more information on the websites or this is another thing your AC could advise you on. The BHDTA website has a list of affiliated clubs - if one of these is near you then it would also be well worth contacting the secretary to see what they are getting up to. Hope this helps and I wish you and your daughter many happy years of driving |

Hello. I wonder if any of you have any ideas of what I can do with my daughter Nadia. She is just 10 and been driving a year, she has recently had a shetland broken to drive for her and all is going well - a happy little pair! My other daughter is a rider and does all the pony club things - but what do I do with a driving child? I have no driving friends and haven't got a clue, but she is keen to do showing and IHDT. Are there rallies and clinics, camp etc?? We are in Essex but quite near Suffolk too. Many thanks. |
