I agree Helen that upwards progression through the classes should be a challenge but I'm afraid I'm with Cathy on this one - to make the Intermediate test simpler and the Open more complex is surely not conducive to encouraging people up the ranks. The new Intermedaite test is actually simpler than the old Novice test! Why no one-handed work? (Just when Gypsy and I had come to an agreement about it!) Oh, well - it will be comedy drama when we got into the arena to do 7a - the dog leg extension followed by a one handed double deviation in collection? I'd better re-open negotiations with him asap!!! :o)

I have the No 7a test in front of me - progressing out of Intermediates should require a challenge and I think the 2008 Open singles test represents that. I'm looking forward to working towards this new test for next year - my horse and I might (probably will) struggle with parts of it and it may not be very pretty, but we'll cope with plenty of hard work. I also think the new Intermediate test reflects the upward transition from Novice - in that it's more technical, but easily within Novices reach and therefore less daunting. Here's to the new 2008 season - bring it on!!

Why is the Open Pony class for 2008 going to have to do the test that was used in the World Championships? Surely the idea between splitting the class into OPEN and Advanced was to give the driver coming up from Intermediate a progressive route.

The Intermediate test for the 2008 has been reduced in difficulty i.e. no one-handed 30m collected circles. This test looks a lot easier than the Intermediate 2007 test. Thus making the Open test far more difficult.

Does this mean that in 2009 the Open ponies are going to have to do FEI test 9 (which the Advanced are doing in 2008).

Is it not time that the Open Pony class has a test specifically written for it. Not using an International test.

Open drivers if you are not happy you must make your views known.
