No personally I haven't been driving very long, this is my 4th season. I have been competing for 20yrs though BD,BE,BSJA and yes they are all expensive have registration fees and start fee so on. I except equestrian sports are expensive to organise and maintain and really I have no problem with these costs. I just personally felt as I commented in my first posts that maybe the costs were not fairly being applied this season thats all. I am looking forward to competing this year with BHDTA and supporting my local club by competing more at that level |

The Horse registration fee was over £30 and there was also a BHDTA levy on every entry, although not everyone may have noticed as it was included in the entry fee. Anyone competing at fewer than 5 events pays less with the current system of Start Fees. BHDTA Competitions Committee. |

I seem to remember paying £30 for Gypsy and his vaccination card was stamped with his BHDTA number. |

It has always been the norm to pay start fees at nationals, and novices have only in the last two seasons been able to compete in national competitions.Last year we were fortunate that the generosity of the Scott-Barretts meant we didn't have to pay them at all. This year we are fortunate again(for the afore mentioned reason) we are paying a reduced rate.Looking at it from our point of view Gemma as we both compete, the entry fees are £260 for one event so the saving for my novice start fee is greatly appreciated. And hopefully I won't always be a novice and so when I move up I will be paying a start fee. |

Also in the Regional start fees singles pay £10 pairs and tandem pay £25 and Teams pay $45. How is this fair to pairs and tandems Surely it should be £10, £20, £40 ? Or £10, £15, £25 ?. |

I completely agree with encouraging new members into the sport of carriage driving, but surely we need to also suppport our loyal driving members too. Some drivers compete at "Novice" classes and they are not newcomers to the sport and therefore I do not understand why they are exempt from the start fees and the full entry fees. The other point is that it doesn't encourage drivers to move up through the classes does it, as the better you get the more money you have to find. |
