Hi Wendy, looks like you have about bought your trailer but I have an Ifor Williams hybrid which has been converted to carriage driving needs - 2 ponies go in front using side ramp specially created and 4-wheeler fits snuggly in back using rear ramp, with fixed partition between ponies/cart. It's been a great trailer but I've now gone to a lorry so trailer could be for sale if you want pics before finally deciding on the Wessex? It's a triple axle and travels very smoothly

Thanks for everyones advice, I am getting a Wessex Treble, and will try different loading ways. Sure there will be mistakes, when my pony gets bored and rearranges everything in the back he manages to get hold of. But good thing about having seperate trailer is, I can un hitch when I get there and leave the pest far away from my van. To be homest the competing gets in the way of my relaxing and the odd vino, while away for competitions anyway. Thanks again. Wendy

Most ponies prefer faceing backwards when given the choice!
We had a breast bar and board, the ponies soon learnt to load and unload useing the front ramp, and enjoyed the view over the carriage and back ramp.
We now have a big Ivor Williams pony trailer that takes 4 or 5 ponies; or 2 carriages; or 2 ponies and 1 carriage. Very versatile, but needs some power to pull it!!

Hi Wendy, I have a Sinclair treble, carriage at the front, pony at the back. Works well. We put carriage in forward facing, then turn front wheels at angle, shafts then fit under carriage, have partition in between pony and carriage.

did think that was how you did it. Is your pony ok with width as has whole width of trailer to its shoulders? Also do you turn them in the front to exit back out front ramp? What trailers do you have? If I travel my pony backwards at the front, I believe they put most there weight on their hind legs? or do you think front legs would be most used, as my pony has not got great front legs, falling aprt like owner!

hi wendy,i took all the partitions out, then fitted one long bar to the existing brackets ,to seperate the horse from carriage, covered the bar with thick rubber matting-to prevent knocks to both-horse goes in"pointed end" facing backwards.carriage goes up the rear ramp, backwards(easier to get out ).works well.a friend ,who has the same, puts her carriage in pointed end( first she jackknifes-it)her horse goes in the back -end.both seem to work, just a question of what suits you.

Hi
Ive just looked at a Richardson treble and cant seem to fit above in it. Im keen to buy a treble trailer which is 2800kg laiden weight. But without taking pony and trap on every viewing, wondered if anyone has this or similar set up, and how does it work??
Also have read on Ifor Willaim frequently asked questions that if you have B & E on your license I think you can tow a trailer which is not loaded to max weight, with a smaller vehicle if you do not excede that vehicle towing weight. ie towing vehicle has 2800 kg trailer has max weight 3000 kg, but trailer @ 1280 14.2 say 500kg and carriage 180kg you would be legal. Have I got that right? Wendy
