I think I tempted fate when I said the weather was good. Saturday there was a change in the weather and the heavens opened. But it was still a great competition. We both enjoyed spectating and well done to all the spectators who took part the ground was terrible. |

Just a note to say that we thoroughly enjoyed the obstacles at Castle Kennedy this year (although Bella was convinced that Something Unspeakably Nasty lived under the water in hazard 8, and we managed to completely ignore Flag 21 on our walk rounds...ho hum :-) The only real difficulty we had came from the midgies. Bella was driven nearly mad every night, in spite of fly sprays and rugs. She bashed around her stabling all night, incessantly rubbing her neck and tail on the gates and lorry, and keeping me and probably other people constantly awake. By Saturday morning I had decided to take her home; if my marathon had been any later, I would have gone home that morning, but because our time was early I was able to wait until after the marathon to do so. We live about 6 hours north east. I would like to say a big thanks to everyone at Castle Kennedy for a lovely drive round the loch in Section A, and obstacles that took thought and care to drive. |

It has been a great Friday of Dressage at Castle Kennedy. Believe it or not there has been a lot of Sunshine and only a little over night rain. I have been told Castle Kennedy Can be a very wet competition. There have been small classes and no big surprises. It has been enjoyable for the spectators like myself and we saw a dressage test that was great to watch and even to my untrained eye looked exceptionally good. It was by Sue Denney who scored 28.53. This I believe is the lowest dressage score of the year at a National Qualifier event. It looks like Rolly and Sue may not have peaked yet and we are going to have a great competition at the nationals this year. Lets hope this weather stays for the rest of the weekend and we see yet more great carriage driving. I dont often get to watch competitions due to filming, but here and lowther we have taken the time off to watch some of the competition. I have to say thankyou to all the competitors we have seen who have made made these two events so enjoyable. Nic |
