We use a Nene Schule bit (they have a good website) that was recommended by Amanda Nisbet. It's like a french link with a lozenge but it has 2 rings that are shaped to give poll action so you can choose the top or bottom ring. You can also add a curb chain to it. Our pony loves it, she goes so much better than in her old liverpool and we still have brakes and softness!

You've probably been down this road already but if you are trying to reduce leverage and make room for the tongue have you considered an ordinary riding snaffle with a French link?

Hi Elinor
If you are not already sorted, I think we may be able to help with the bit you are looking for!

Have a look at this Dutch site. If you cannot see what you want give them a ring as they have many more in the shop than they do on the web site. Do not worry about the language Letty speaks good english. http://www.letty.nl/eng

Why not cut the slot you don't want off with a hacksaw and angle grind it smooth. If you have not got the tools any local garage will.

Can anyone help me source a 5.5 low port liverpool. All the ones I can find either have a very thick mouthpiece or 3 slots, really looking for a 2 slot one! Any suggestions would be great thanks
