For what it's worth, I used my brother's MiFi widget at Windsor and it worked a treat. It is on the network 3 and we actually got 3G. The best thing about them is that you can bluetac them to a window in the perfect spot and then use the laptop / iPad or whatever where you are comfortable. At Windsor we didn't need to do this. |

Thanks for that Bryan, but we are now a bit puzzled. You say you got WiFi at Windsor - I wonder how that came about. We are not aware of any WiFi hot-spots anywhere near there and BT Openzone certainly don't list any. Maybe you could give us some more information on that. If you are talking about mobile internet rather than WiFi (i.e. a 2G or 3G mobile dongle) we have already tried a number of these. Both O2 and Vodafone signals are poor at the area where the scorer's office is normally situated. It is possible, by driving around the Windsor Great Park site, to find the odd spot where reception improves, but is usually 2G only and not very reliable. Asda's mobile internet uses O2 as their provider, so that does not seem like their signal would be any better. We are looking at some of the MiFi devices (which convert mobile internet to WiFi) and which would give us a better chance of finding a good spot for reception. There are also 2G and 3G mobile repeaters with directional antennas, which may be able to help, but these do require a bit of setting up and are not really plug-and-go. Vic. |

We were hoping to do live results from the Championships, but unfortunately it has not been possible to get a working internet connection from the scorers' caravan. The next best option is to save the results on a memory stick and take them to where the internet can be accessed - in this case a nearby B&B. Unfortunately this means that we can only update them at the end of the day. We are hoping to test new technology soon, which may enable us to get live results from more events next year and, hopefully, the National Championships in 2011 ! Vic BHDTA website |

Well done to the Organisers of the Championships for getting the results up on the web so quickly. |
