Google's your friend - search for "Sulky Repeater Cables" The repeater cable is an accessory for an equine heart rate monitor. These monitors are designed for riders (endurance and cross country) where the sensor is attached to the girth, close to the horse's heart and the the receiver is worn by the rider on their wrist. The heart-rate data is sent by wireless over a distance of about 1 metre. Obviously, if you intend to use this in a carriage, the driver will be a lot further away from the horse and the radio signal will not reach that far. In this instance, the receiver is mounted on the carriage dashboard and the repeater cable is run along the shaft or pole, to be within a metre of the horse's chest. This arrangement is used by sulky drivers for training, hence the name "sulky repeater cable". It can be used by any carriage driver. I wonder if anyone has used this for marathon training ? Maybe you could let us know how useful it is. I imaine if you had two units in operation while training with a pair, you could see how they are performing. On the website of www.horsebeat.co.uk there are many different options, ranging from £100 to nearly £400 for a unit that includes a GPS receiver which logs time and distance travelled ! |

Ok, I know you'll say if you don't know what they are, you don't need 'em but when I just glanced at your headline and saw the word "Sulky"- I immediatly thought "Harness Racing" ! Obviously nothing to do with it. So come on educate a thicko and elaborate a bit please just to feed my curiosity. I'd be most grateful. |
