Putting on such a smashing national-calibre event at incredibly short notice really does credit to all involved, Jill Holah and her hard-working team of organisers who moved as much as possible from Windsor, as well as to the magnificently generous Midlands club, which cancelled an event at Mythe Farm near Nuneaton in order to make the Championships happen. They pulled out all the stops and put on a very professional standard of event (as ever, of course!) You'd never have guessed it was all put together at Catton in almost hours.

Thank you to everyone, the organisers, judges, stewards, timekeepers, scorers and all the helpers at every level - I'm sure I speak for all the competitors - and to Robin and Katie Neilson for making their beautiful estate available to us.

Many stewards and lots of officials bussed northwards although, because he'd used up his holiday entitlement, I gather Mark Ingham, who flagged the Windsor obstacles beautifully, I heard, was just one who couldn't re-do his work. Of course the (relatively minor) disruption to our sport is nothing compared to the terrible havoc wreaked by FMD and the destruction of animals and livelihoods. I can only hope that this episode is short-lived and closes the matter.

A £20,000 loss is possibility for the BHDTA, the Championships being the only event that the Association actually runs itself. This is another blow on top of a season afflicted by weather-induced cancellations for clubs and the national event organisers and lower entries at some events, perhaps a result of changes in the class structure which still need to shake down?

All that is true, and i've looked there everyday.... but this forum is a way of asking questions instead of just waiting and seeing....lol
Having spoken to a laovely lady from the club yesterday I am a lot more in the picture, many thanks for that. Our teamchasing is also being hit hard by the FMD, understandably of course but still frustrating. Fingers crossed it all improves soon.

Hi, if you read this trail of messages you will see that I posted on Saturday 15th that the Mythe Farm event was cancelled and we were trying to rearrange an alternative venue for the following weekned. I also suggested people look at the club website for further information too! Hey ho

If you look at the MDTG website (www.mdtg.co.uk) you will find that the Mythe farm Event (22/23 Sep) has been cancelled. We have not been informed, so the diary on our site still shows this event as running, but I will get that changed now.

Most clubs have their own sites, where a lot of information may be more up to date - these are all listed on the top of the events diary page or on the links page.

Hope this helps.

Any news from the MDTG? We have to decide whether to enter an event next weekend, the driving will be our first choice of course, but if there is no chance of anything running we'll get other entries in! Thanks

Julia - the item about your event was placed on the Club Events page, where all these items usually go. I'm sorry it didn't make the front page. We do have to be careful how much we put on the front page and unfortunately most email requests we get begin with "could you put on the front page ...". As much as we'd like to help them all, there are some limits - both in terms of space and clarity as well as file size and download times. If we put too much on the front page, it would become unmanageable. That's why we tend to put items like the club event diary in their own sections. Each contribution is looked at when it comes in and a decision is made where it can go - we do try to remain flexible. I'm sorry if in your instance it was decided not to put it on the front page. Next time this may not be the case.

Hi Vic, yes I am aware that it has appeared in the announcement section of the forum, and many thanks for that, however it would have been nice if it could have appeared on the BHDTA front page of their website to help promote this event, we often see Ashfields and various others getting a mention but sadly not the Club's who are working hard to compete with the bigger events.

Due the the change of date & venue of the National Championships MDTG have cancelled the Mythe Farm event, which was due to run Sept 22/23, so our members can support the Championships. The committee have tried to source an alternative venue for the following weekend but to date we have been unable to secure a location within the midlands. Please watch this space or visit our website for any announcements if an alternative can be found within our area - www.mdtg.co.uk

Julia - I have searched through all our received emails for the last 6 months and can find only one from you - dated 29 August. The information about your event was put on the website the following day - and it is still there. If you have sent other emails, I wonder where to, because nothing else was received here at website@horsedrivingtrials.co.uk. Anyway, please be reassured that your event has been publicised and the page has been viewed by a large number of people.

Geoff,

Don't know which "website" you're looking at ?

The BHDTA website had information about the re-scheduling of the Championships published on the front page just after 7 pm on Wednesday, after an official statement was received from the event organisers.

This page has not changed since ! The item was never taken off. If, for any reason, there is to be a change to the re-scheduled event, this will be clearly stated on the front page.

If you are seeing something different, you are either looking at a different website, or you are looking at a stored version of the front page from earlier that day, which may be saved in your browser. Always remember to do "refresh" or press F5 when you're looking for latest news.

The front page of the BHDTA website only ever shows information which has been confirmed by official sources. This may differ from announcements made on the discussion forum, which are made by individuals and can be in error.

I hope this explains the situation.

Geoff,

No change - the rescheduling is still on for 21-23 September at Catton Park according to the BHDTA website and to Barry Hilditch who's taking confirmation of entries right now!

Please do not come to Windsor - the Championships are CANCELLED owing to a nearby outbreak of foot and mouth disease. Windsor is in the control zone.
