Unfortunately Allerton were already committed to the same date as Brighton and they were unable to change. We would not normally consider allowing a Regional to compete with a National event, but the demise of Lowther, Alnwick and Castle Kennedy, left a huge gap between Catton and Hopetoun.Due to these special circumstances,we felt we must assist our northern members and at that time Holker was not even under consideration. Ian and I would like to say that Martyn has put into words what we have been thinking since we saw the addition of the Regional event at Allerton. We were worried for the Organisers that this would put paid to many competitors making the trip down to Brighton when they have a really good event in North Yorkshire. Many who live North of the Thames will think twice about travelling to Brighton when there is the excitement of a new venue within easy reach via the A.1. Is there not a chance that these two excellent Events could be run on different dates to enable more competitors to compete at both. |

Whilst looking at the calender of events, I've noticed that we have a clash with a Regional event at Allerton Park and a Full National at Brighton. Given events struggle with entries I'm surprised the competitions committee have allowed ths. Especially as Brighton has moved from its traditional date to accomodate Ashfields to the vacant date created by the loss of Farleigh this year. I understand the ethos of regionals clashing when they are a significant distance apart but find it very strange that a National, one of our "Premier" events has to compete with a regional for ANY competitors. |
