The Dutch have some cracking little shetlands who can really cover the ground and you see them on little paddocks on estates in the most unexpected places. They have not fallen into the trap of breeding these silly little fat bellied, short legged ponies that there are such a lot of over here. A good 42 inch Shetland is hard to find in this country but if you do find a good one it will do everything a much bigger pony will do.. |

Do you really think that they are cross-bred? The breed standard for Shetlands are 42 inches, which is 10.2hh - perhaps they have just aimed on breeding a lighter, more sporting type of Shetland in The Netherlands? |
