It is wet – obviously. It is wet all over the country. However the ground at Bywell is totally different to Lowther. It is a very free draining gravel base. I have spoken to the land manager for the Northumberland County Show today, held on the same venue, and also to one of the local farmers. Both said we will be fine. Section A is designed so it can be easily shortened by ˝ km or 1.5km (it is only just over 5km at maximum) and indeed can be taken out altogether if necessary. The obstacles are all on free draining land. We will have tractors on site. Last year, although it had rained heavily on Friday night and all day Sunday, every wagon drove off the box park and no reinstatement was required. We intend to run whatever the weather and the only chance of cancellation is if the estate pulls it which they currently have no intention of doing. The box park is open from 9am on Wednesday. So far we have 2 competitors arriving earlier, both doing their dressage on Thursday. One travelling from Sussex and the other dependant on ferries from the Isle of Man. Tuesday is not an “open house” arrival day for anyone although any requests will be considered. Hope that covers most of the queries but happy to clarify if any further. Best would be to message me on Facebook messenger or email to championships@britishcarriagedriving.co.uk Look forward to seeing you at the Great Big Northern Party. |
