 Don't think I will be removing any bits of this ! It's complete and original from 1890, dog cart by Mulliner's of Birmingham :-) Just have to sort something that they will all fit into ! :-) Looks like I am going to go for a Cheval 4004 ! :-)

I have measured the trailer the internal height is 2100+ the part where the carriage goes is 2100L X 1820W unfortunately there is a return on the back for the ramp to close to and this measures 172. The horse area will take up to 2 17.3hh horses I have had a 17.3 and a 16.2 in it and it was no problem to tow. There is a front ramp and a jockey door. |

It's the width that will be the problem ! My carriage is so wide ! Also does your trailer have a front ramp ? Not keen on having him in the front with the carriage behind if there is no front ramp. If you check the door width and the internal width and the lengths but I would rather have the carriage in first then him in the back but will see if its wide enough ! |

The overall length of the trailer is aprox 20ft and then there is the A frame to add on which is about another 2ft. I have a bennington presentation carriage which fits in with room to spare although the shafts come off, I can measure the internal if you like. The unladen weight is 1000kg and it is plated to 3500kg so you have 2500kg to play with. The trailer can be set up so the horse travels at the back and the carriage travels over the wheels but this might upset the nose weight of the trailer on the vehicle. |

Dont think it would be big enough ! I do private driving with an old original vehicle, a dogcart by Mulliners of Birmingham. Overall Width Of Carriage = 177cm (From Hub/Mudguard to Hub/Mudguard at the widest point, but the shafts are narrower at the front, that is the overall width at the widest part of the body of the carriage) Overall Height Of Carriage = 170cm (Ground to the top of the backrest of the seat) Total Overall Length Of Carriage = 370cm (Tip of shafts to the step at the back) Length Of Body Of Carriage = 190cm (From where the shafts join the body of the carriage to the step at the back) Length Of shafts = 180cm (From the body of the carriage to the tip of the shafts) So dont think it would fit ! Also what is the weight of your trailer ? |

Hi Caroline, I have a tri-axle Pegasus trailer which I had been using to carry my horse carriage quad and all the other things we needed to go and compete over the weekends. The trailer is easy to tow and is not nose heavy as the horse stands over the wheels. The carriage goes in the back and is held in place using 2 sprung poles and there is a water tank in the front which helps to counter balance the weight of the carriage. The trailer is for sale as we have moved up to a lorry. You can contact me on 07411767757 if you want to know more, Cheers Mick Ward |

I have a chavel with a carriage platform at the front and its been great, it weighs 900kg unlaiden. It's really easy to tow, light and airy inside. |

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the large Cheval Liberte trailers. Currently looking at the large 4004 trailer as an option for transporting my turnout. However the dealer is a long way away and it would bea special order so I am unable to see one before purchasing so I was wondering if anyone had one, knew of anyone with one ? It looks a good option on paper but just wondered how they worked out in practice. Carriage up the front and horse in the back, would this tow ok, or will there be too much weight in the back, is the weight spread enough ? Think it looks a good option but interested in hearing other folks opinions of cheval trailers ! :-) thanks |
