I too am looking for a pony. Can accommodate 11hh - 14hh. Has to have good flatwork and forward going. Wanted mainly for showing. Not a plod! Has to be sensible but enthusiastic and forward going! Older pony OK, so long as it 'fits the bill'.......however I keep on being offered novices and/or babies! There must be something out there for us! Dont mind if I have to bring a pony back in to work either! Own private yard, purpose built stables, wonderful fields!!!!! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE OR KNOW OF SOMETHING! Can loan but would prefer to buy.

That's a shame Janette as they would find the roadwork around here just a little bit too much. I've just retired a pair of 40" Shetlands after 20years work and know that anything smaller would struggle. Thanks anyway, Sheila

Hi
I have two pairs of Shetlands available. One 34" pair and one 37" pair.
Would these be too small for what you want?

Thanks Mike Daniell for trying to help. Unfortunately the lady that was selling them has changed her mind, so, I'm still looking!

I know of a very nice pair of Shetlands for sale, 7 and 8 years old, driven single and pair, shown successfully and come from an excellent home, "one careful lady owner" (ex hdt herself). If you want a pair... More information from Mike Daniell, 01394 410293 (Suffolk)

Have you tried www.shetlandponydriving.co.uk ? You seem to be in that size range.

I'm beginning to think you're right, I'm looking for gold dust. Unfortunately I can't go any bigger as I'll need to buy new harness and equipment, including a bigger trailer and car. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions, they're worth a try.

Hi Sheila. Unfortunately the type of pony you are looking for is like Gold dust!. We looked for a year for my daughter for 10.2 to 12.2hh range pony and have now been lucky enough to find a lovely pony for her but he is 13.1hh. We found that safe broken to drive small ponies rarely come onto the open market as someone is always waiting for them. I would suggest popping along to a few driving shows and speak to people there and also try contacting area BDS reps and people who are professionally breaking ponies as they will know of ones which a person has not necessarily got up for sale but may consider selling to a nice home as they are retiring or moving up a gear or size of pony. Otherwise as we did, if a lovely kind and safe driving pony comes along but is slightly bigger than you originally wanted. I would definitely consider it and go and have a look as you said safety is so important. I wish you luck in your search .

I've been posting wanted adverts all over the place and haven't come up with anything like my request. I particularly want a small pony 10hh - 10.2hh gelding, already driving would be nice but it must be safe as I'm not getting any younger. I drive single/pair/tandem and can offer a perfect home for the right pony. People have been offerring everything else but ... can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
