What about a few words of praise for the 'old man of British driving' ( if he'll pardon the expression), George Bowman. I know he's been there many times before but how many drivers are still competing at his age , never mind at World Championships, and still leading Briton. Well done George, looking forward to 2010. |

Just a feel of the atmosphere - I have loaded a short clip on You Tube of the victory lap - play it loud! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn1qpi71AtY What an amazing show! Everything from four in hand goats to heavy horses racing with drivers in wheelbarrows! I have never seen 2000 people watching standing presentation before and certainly not experienced twice that watching cones before - all perfectly quiet while the horses were working and erupting at a good performance. (A few whistles at the judges in the dressage as well!) Wendy |

We got back late last night. We went out on Thursday afternoon and saw George's dressage which was really wonderful. Friday we sat and watched dressage all day in the huge grandstand and on Saturday we managed to wiggle our way up onto the bank above the two water obstacles, 3 and 7. Also from there we could see number 2 in the distance so we were reluctant to move as it was so difficult to get a good spot. After grabbing some lunch we parked ourselves in the grandstand at number 4 in the main arena and watched the rest of the obstacles on the big screen - amazing! The Dutch are hugely patriotic and we tried very hard to outdo them but I don't think we made that much noise! :o) The cones on Sunday were so exciting - the atmosphere was electric! Well done to the British team and also to Boyd - we had a great weekend. |

I was there for the marathon on Saturday. It was amazing. The Dutch were really behind their team to the extent that about 300 people were running from obstacle to obstacle as the Dutch competitiors went through.
