Hugh, I'm sorry if you thought my post suggested that Olympia was not relevant, that was not my intention. I shall be there watching, supporting and very willing to talk to any non driving spectator as I did last year about our sport. I don't think there is a single carriage competitor who doesn't appreciate the time, effort and money you and Karen put into supporting our sport and I hope Olympia helps. I was trying to say that we need to find other ways of encouraging new people to give it a go at a much lower level by showing them what THEY can achieve. I'm sure you won't make a fool of yourself as a back stepper. I wish you good luck and would like to say you're braver than me!! |

I would like to share my thoughts, as a sponsor ,on the current debate about the future of our sport. It is hugely energising to see such passion in the posts about how we can make the sport more accessible and sustainable from a financial point of view. Sadly I will not be present at the AGM but I am voting in favour of BC because I believe that we should support James and his colleagues as part of what I hope will be a much broader agenda to transform our sport from the grass roots upwards.. Whilst the branding is important it is the other actions which many of the posts have flagged which ,together with the move to BC , will secure success A number of posts suggest that Olympia is not relevant for the sport at large . Karen and I decided to sponsor the FEI World Cup because we believe it is the most fantastic showcase for the sport. We will have the best team drivers from both GB and the rest of the world. The atmosphere is like nothing I have ever experienced in any equestrian sport . So do please celebrate what what will be a great occasion and encourage friends to come along. It has certainly inspired me and I believe it will inspire corporate sponsors to engage in a way that will benefit the sport at large over time.I will spend my time there trying to convert leads into cash for the sport at all levels. If nothing else you will have the chance to see me make af fool of myself on the back of one of the teams as back stepper which I am doing in aid of the the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust which does extraordinary work on behalf of those with spinal injuries |
