Mike - unfortunately H&C TV is not on Freesat. It's on "Freesat from Sky" which is different from the BBC/ITV Freesat. This causes a lot of confusion in an already confusing digital TV world !

Sky, who have only recently started their "Freesat from Sky" offering, have given it a very similar name to the already existing "Freesat" from BBC/ITV. If this was some sort of a marketing ploy, I think it has failed miserably and has only caused more confusion.

The original Freesat (BBC/ITV) is an alternative to terrestrial digital TV. You need to buy a digibox and a dish, but thereafter it's free. The channels you get are much the same as you get on Freeview, with the addition of HD (High Definition) channels from BBC, ITV and Channel 4. You will also get the BBC Regional channels.

"Freesat from Sky" is similar in that you pay for the box and dish (£150) and then it's free. If you already have Sky, you can just stop paying the subscription and continue viewing the free channels. I don't know what selection of free channels you get but apparently there are over 200 of them - more details from www.freesatfromsky.co.uk There are no HD channels listed here at the moment.

At the moment, it is not possible to have HD channels on terrestrial TV until the Digital Switchover is completed in 2012, so if you have just bought a shiny big LCD or Plasma screen that is HD-Ready, the only way to watch HDTV is via satellite or Blu-Ray DVDs.

Back to Horse & Country TV. On their website, they say that they are only broadcasting on Sky at the moment - i.e. "Freesat from Sky". They say that they are negotiating to be on Freesat, but aren't there yet. They also mention that they are looking into being on Freeview, but that is most unlikely due to all the available Freeview channels all being used up already.

Hope this explains a little bit what's going on.

They seem to have most of the programmes archived on their website, so hopefully it will be available there once it has been transmitted. Go to www.horseandcountry.tv then select H&C Online TV and then Equestrian. I guess it will be in the "other" category. There aren't any driving programmes on there as yet.

Julian .... we'll see what we can do.

One thing for what it's worth - Horse and Country is on free-to-air satellite - (we don't have Sky either).

A documentary on competition carriage driving has made it onto Horse and Country TV's satellite channel.

The one hour programme will be shown on Friday 19th September at 9pm and then again on Sunday 21st September at 8.30pm. Filmed in April this year at Ashfields carriage and polo club the programme follows drivers at the at the East Anglian club's two day spring event and shows the full range of the sport from novice competitors to world class four in hand drivers throughout all three phases.

Horse & Country TV's channel can be found on Sky 280.

(Many thanks to Zoe and Wilf for arranging this...)
