Thanks everyone for advice. Julie-I bought the carriage on good faith last autumn second hand with a 3 month guarantee but unfortunately it sat in the garade since very recently. I have been trying to talk to Bellcrown for advice but have been unable to contact them. Someone told me they are no longer trading. I dont want to sound like i'm slating the company though as it could have been genuine error??

Jane i think i remember talking to you! i have recently had generous offer of local help but i'm always on the lookout out to swap energies and maybe gain some driving related experience?! My e.mail is @sporthorsetherapy.co.uk (preceded by my name-beccy) Perhaps you need a backstepper or groom (who unfortunatly has little experience of driving but is keen!)

Thanks again to everyone-it has reinforced my positive view and belief about the sport!!

Hi Becky,
If you purchased you vehicle from Bellcrown and it is less than a year old you should be covered by guarantee for repairs due to a manufacturing fault (step falling off). Also if it was made for you but unsuitable for it's purpose i.e it doesn't fit the horse they should rectify the problem. Speak to Bellcrown and see what they say, they should be able to help you.

Hi Beccy

You sound like you're struggling! I don't live far away and in fact, I think we've met? It would be a couple of years ago when you had a lorry for sale? I remember you saying you might like to get into driving and I'm sorry you're not having too smooth a journey! There are more driving people in your locality than you might know - in fact the current open pony champion only lives about three miles away! I'll help if I can, but I'm not sure how we go about swapping contact information without putting it out here for all and sundry to access! Let me know if I can help via this post and we'll take it from there.

Hi Beccy
There is a North Lincolnshire Driving Group just the other side [south] of the river. Gordon Denton runs it. I do not have his contact details but BDS Lincolnshire Area Commisioner David Faulkner will have the number - david.faulkner60@btinternet.com, good luck

Hi! Novice driver here! I have scoured a few driving books, have scrolled websites (and forums) and am still puzzled about driving shafts (and millions of other driving related things). The problem is-i have sooo many questions and want all the answers now but unfortunately i havent any driving friends. Last autumn I purchased (from Bellcrown Carriages) a phantom mk II. I said I was a complete novice and what it was for (fat 14hh connemara and 14.3-15hh typical cob. However connemara went lame and has only just come back into work. However I have a problem with the shafts. When you turn the shafts around so that the tug stops are at the bottom , there is only about 18 inches between the shafts in this area. I managed to find the number of a lady who had a pair of shafts for sale locally and she kindly came around to give some help. She too had a Bellcrown with similar shafts and as she drives at club level i believe her when she says they are supposed tp face down and i purchased her wider pair of shafts . But i am worried that as the tug stops point down there is a possibility they could bounce out of the tugs!?? I have looked at loads of pictures and cant see shafts used in this manner. what is right?

I also discovered the step fell off on the near side and the drivers side is dangerously loose!!! Is there anything puplished about how to make repairs to a carriage such as this and what things to check and how to maintain it properly. I know someone who can weld well but dont want him to produce something which is not 'correct' as i wish to progress to HDT's. (Incidently i am still looking for help to break pony and to teach me to drive-I am north cave area, near hull, east yorkshire. )
