The Midlands Driving Trials Group (MDTG) is delighted to announce full sponsorship of all six obstacles at its new venue at Onley. Treasurer-elect Mike Hawley has kindly arranged a deal with five local businesses and well-known carriage maker, Fenix Carriages, for the competition which will be held on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August. As well as Fenix Carriages the sponsors are Howkins & Harrison Estate Agents, the National Farmers Union (NFU) Stoneleigh, Rollason Engineering, Spring Paddocks Veterinary Centre and equine dentist Steve Welsh. The venue, at Onley Grounds Farm which is home to Rugby Polo Club in Warwickshire, boasts excellent facilities with level lorry parking, a club house, two indoor and one outdoor school (the latter being the equivalent size of a polo pitch) and hard standing. The marathon will be approximately 12k and may use a disused railway line as part of the course. The six sponsored obstacles will include a water element and will be a ideal to use as a ‘warm-up’ for those heading to the BHDTA National Championships the following month. Owner of Onley Grounds Farm, Philip Baker, said: “We are really looking forward to having a driving trials competition at Onley Grounds. It is something different for our members to see and will show yet another aspect of equestrian events at this venue. Despite the recent weather we are on target building the water complex and will be all set for when competitors arrive”. Onley Grounds Farm is easily accessed, located adjacent to the A45 just south of the M45 (post code CV23 8AJ). Entries close 4th August. Full details on www.mdtg.co.uk |
