The best rugs I have found are Chaskit. They are goretex, thug proof and very generous in the neck. It's the only rug that fits my Cleveland Bay mare who is more stallion like in appearance! The only other rugs that give her enough neck room are the old Masta Checktec and the Rambo rugs with the v closures at the front. Chaskits come up on ebay sporadically otherwise it's a case of importing from America unfortunately. Thankfully they have halved in price, they used to be around £350 each! |

I have a broad, cresty welsh cob and I love Mark Todd rugs. Some real thought has gone into their design, from turnouts to fly rugs. Also, you can usually get them on ebay for a lot less than they cost at the saddlers! |

Amigo rugs are very good on the chunkier variety of horse. Buca rugs have lovely neck/shoulder fittings and they seem to be good as well. |

I find Weartherbeeta rugs good, I have a very broad chested WB and these are the only rugs that fit her without rubbing |

Amigos are good - we use them on all of ours and they are broad. They never rub and don't move. |

Can anyone recommend a make of turnout rug for ponies with very broad chests? Our lovely NFx came with a Gallop turnout but is losing hair on her shoulders. Its seen better days so we want to get it right when we get a new one! |
