yes you would have enough time just about. The marathon sets of from the main ring and finishes in the main ring followed straight after by the cones course. You do not need extended axels as they dont even measure the width of the cones and groom your groom can stand.

I competed at Bowes Show last year and everyone just wears marathon coloures to do the marathon and then the cones course follows afterwards in the main ring. Before the marathon the private driving class and the excercise classes are judged and these are to be shown as you would for BHDTA dressage and cones.

Ann Varley asked me to post this on her behalf...

"I have judged at Bowes Show and can help her with her question. It's a lovely, very rural, old fashion show which also has a most interesting drive. Cross country it is and in that I mean top of the Pennines. It's certainly not a park drive and when wet it is very wet.

I would recommend Kathleen to go, even if for the pleasure of the views, incredible countryside and something totally different. The company would be good too. It's rather a social outing with rosettes!

Some competitors bring 2 vehicles, other just what they have. It's that kind of show and the organisers would welcome the entry.

That's not far from where I used to live and work.

Ann"

Has anyone driven at Bowes Show? Here's the class explanation from the schedule- I know it's BDS but was wondering if I could go in with three phase carriage and synthetic harness as I would for dressage and cones? Was thinking that it would be a useful trip out for my boy before his next HDT in September.

SHOW DRIVE
Prizes: 1st £50; 2nd £30; 3rd £20; 4th £10; Rosettes to all competitors Entry Fee: £6.00

Please note: It is recommended that all persons riding on carriages in this class should wear appropriate BSI approved safety helmets, properly fastened at all times.

H82. 10KM SHOW DRIVE / MINI-MARATHON over a stewarded, marked course, covering a range of terrain from roads and grass to fell, may include a water hazard. Followed by a short, timed obstacle course in the show ring on return to the show field. The Bowes Show Challenge Trophy to be held for one year by the winner. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This class is open to competitors 14 years and over, horses/ponies 4 years and over.

BDS Show Drive rosettes which are collected for the cumulative Red Rover Award are only awarded for a completed Show Drive. Turnouts must be inspected by the judge before going out on to the road.
