Most of the current advanced drivers were at Catton last weekend and took the opportunity to raise the issue of notifying intent to take part in the selection process for our next assault on gold medal at the 2012 world championship. A couple of options were discussed amongst those drivers I saw. A final option, which has the support of both the BHDTA President and those advanced class members to whom I spoke, is now in place. It seems reasonable and practical. If a driver wishes to take part in the selection process which commences at Holker Hall in 2011, they must notify the BHDTA office in advance of the event at Holker Hall if they wish their result to be used in the process, ie you cannot after the event, ask for that result to be retrospectively included. If however, a driver does not wish to be considered for the selection process until the start of next year’s season in 2012, their notification of intent to take part in the selection process must be registered in advance of next year’s first selection event, namely Ashfields. Declaring interest to take part in the process will also require a deposit of £100 per driver to be placed with the BHDTA. The intention is that money will be used for training which could for example be arranged to take place with a nominated team trainer at one of the selection events, where one assumes most of the participants will be in attendance anyway. This aims to ensure that the money deposited by drivers will be used to the benefit of those particular drivers. Cheques should be made payable simply to BHDTA and sent with the selection process form which can be found under BHDTA website forms then look under Reference, then Forms, then BHDTA forms has an option called Team GB International Selection Form. Forms and cheques to be sent to BHDTA office. Other issues you will need to start thinking about as a group include, who you would want as team trainer, vet, chef d’equipe and maybe even shipping/transport organiser. To secure their services, your nominations would need to be spoken to early regarding willingness, availability and cost and any preferences they have may re travel, accommodation etc. I guess most of you know the team trainer for the event is not the same as your own personal trainer. It is suggested to hold a single horse meeting at Holker on the Saturday evening at about 1700 or 1730. This is generally after end of marathon and before cones opens. As class rep I intend to be there competing so such a meeting would be achievable at my lorry. I suggest a shorter rather than longer meeting. I think 1700 is preferable to 1730. The main topics would be as above but of course there may other issues members of the horse class wish to bring up. Reminders re FEI vaccination rules, FEI driver and horse registration and FEI dressage qualification may need to checked by “combatants”. |
