HI Yeh we're a driving yard, we use them for everything unless the horse has enough foot. Road work mainly though as the off road work they don't need them although I have used them off road, the gaitors really are great for helping them stay in in the right position and when we used them they haven't rubbed, (we have hairy natives so feather is a requirement) another reason we prefer the easy boots is the clip for fastening is on the front, so you don't have to worry about them wearing out unevenly, or which foot they go on, just grab them out the bucket and bung them on. I think that is why ours are only just starting to wear out after 4 1/2 years of use.

Aye, even with the gaiters, the old macs rubbed the pasterns at longer distances. But they never came off!!!
Renegades are great though, no rubbing.

Hi Dot, interesting that your Old Macs rubbed - that is what I am worried about - not heard of renegades so will do some research. Thank you for your comments.

I use renegades. They are generally pretty good at staying on and so far never rub.
The important thing is though to get boots that fit your horse.
I used old macs for the first year I was barefoot and they were fine, though they rubbed at longer distances (32k +)

Thank you so much for your comments - I will take another look at the Easy boot - they may be less constricting than the G2 - and thereby less likely to rub on long distances. JRB do you use them for everything? on all surfaces? and competing? do let me know if anyone has tried the stick-ons, Can't see how they could possibly stay on a competition driving pony but time will tell.

use cavello for my little ones sometimes - they look a bit "clummpy" but do the trick - I take them out on drives with me for emergency use

Is yours a driving yard? (possibly silly question if you're on this website!) Do you use them all the time - on and off road?
There is a new stick-on Easy boot out. Have you seen or tried them? Am very interested but the company haven't done any trials with driving horses/ponies and I'm wondering if they will stand up to the work.

HI Carol

Our yard uses easy boots with the gaitor all round. Can't fault them. Been in boots for about 4 years now and the horses love it, especially the old ones!

My 14hh cob cross has excellent feet and has been riding/driving barefoot since starting his career less than a year ago. I use Old Mac G2 boots in front for driving when his feet are worn or if using stony tracks, when I ride I use them all round. Has anyone used them all round for driving? Do you find them satisfactory? Would love to hear how you get on with them.
