Please arrive at the dressage arena ten minutes before your scheduled start time and let the steward know you’re ready – there is plenty of warm up room nearby in the dressage field. Then the order is; 1. Do your dressage test (BHDTA PreNov A) , starting at your start time. When you finish your dressage test go straight to… 2. Trot round the loop (follow the signs) – about 1.5km (no cantering, please) 3. Straight into the obstacle field where you go through the start gate, drive obstacle 1, straight on through the cones, straight on to drive obstacle 2 through the finish gate – you’re timed start to finish 4. Go round the loop again – trot, walk second part – take 10-12 minutes (small ponies can just walk for 10 minutes if they prefer). (no cantering, please) 5. Drive obstacle1, cones, obstacle 2 again as before – this will also be timed If your carriage has adjustable axles, please use marathon width. Marathon dress, no presentation scoring. Grooms may stand or sit and can navigate (talk to the driver) through the cones and obstacles. Scoring is on the dressage test (paces and precision) + elapsed time for obstacles and cones + elapsed time for second go round obstacles and cones + penalties for knockdowns. The ‘marathon’ loops are not scored. Cones Challenge This is a separate optional competition, in another field. The idea is to drive clear through as many cones as you can in the time. Each competitor drives the course for 5 minutes. You get one point each time you drive a cones pair clear. You can drive the same cones as many times as you like. Once a ball is knocked off a cones pair you can still drive it again but you won’t get any more points for it. There will be about 18 cones, possibly with a compulsory slalom of cones – stewards will tell you! Highest points wins a bag of carrots … and enduring fame. You can drive this as many times as you like - Ł1 per go. Logistics There is a good number of competitors to run through in one day, so we ask everyone to be on time or to contact the organisers if they are unavoidably delayed. You will want to walk the cones and obstacles to learn them before you drive them. You can do this; • before the first competitor gets to the obstacle field – i.e. before 9:40 and • in the mid session breaks – around 11:00 – 11:20 and 2:50 – 3:10 • in the lunch break 1:10 – 2:10 We hope to post obstacle diagrams here soon. Please don’t try to walk the obstacles or cones while competitors are on the course – obviously… and have a safe, fun, day. Click here for printable version |
