Last week, the BHS launched a petition on the Prime Minister's web site, asking that horses are taken into account in any future access legislation. We want to show that there are votes in equestrian access matters! To do this we need to get a really good number of signatures on the petition. Getting more than 20,000 would get us into the top 10 petitions list. We did get 1,000 in our first week, which is a good start!

The petition closes in March, but we want to have a good number of signatures while the Government is considering what to do for coastal access this autumn. In Wales and Scotland, riders will be getting rights to beaches and the coast, but in England the Government is only considering walkers at the moment. All we are asking for is that we're considered.

Every organisation in the East of England that promotes the petition will be acknowledged (and hence given a web link) on the BHS East of England web site. If you can help, I'd be very grateful! If you just want a simple link, we recommend http://www.bhseast.org.uk/petition. This takes the reader to a page on our site where they can read the petition and see links to press releases about equestrian access and sign the petition. This is where your group will be thanked for its support.

If you prefer to write about the aims and objectives yourself, the direct link to the PM's web site is http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Equestrianaccess/
