That's a shame Vic (and Mary!), I enjoyed living beside you guys last year at Windsor. I have managed to reschedule my leave and will be making the trip. We'll miss you. :-( |

Sorry Karen, we can't make it either. A great shame but I'm not on leave any more and we have been completely unsuccessful in finding a backstepper and a lorry driver at such short notice. Very disappointing, but it's always that much harder to organise these trips when they are so far away. I hope some of the others still manage to make it - after all the effort that's gone into re-locating the event. Well done Jill Holah and Barry Hilditch, who are doing a tremendous amount of work in making it happen. I think they should be up for an award after all this ! |

Oh, Janet, I'm so sorry that you guys can't get to Catton. I know that you both would have done us all proud! Is the rest of the Scots contingent forging on? |

Sorry to hi-jack your post Julia but in light of what's happened I thought I would post something. First of all thank you to the organisers for arranging an alternative venue at such short notice. Also a huge thank you to Wilf and Zoe at Ashfields for taking us in as we were on route when we heard the event was cancelled and detoured here. After mulling it over with a gin and tonic last night, we have come to the sad decision that we cannot possibly make it to Catton - it is too short notice for us to arrange more time off work, cover for animals left at home and also replacement backsteppers as Louise, my team mate, is off to a family wedding and Colin who was backstepping for Owen is gutted that he also has a prior commitment. So we'll trundle back up the road to Scotland and take the brand new shoes off the neds and chuck rugs on them 'cos they're now clipped and have a good old mope. However, we aren't as unfortunate as those more directly affected by this new outbreak of FMD - our sympathies lie with the Crown Estates who must be frantic with worry, and also the BHDTA who will suffer as a result of this cancellation. We hope the alternative is a success and see you all at the end of season party. Janet & Owen |

I know I have not been on the driving 'national' scene this season but have followed everyone's progress with interest and will be doing my bit stewarding on Saturday, however I am slightly donfused by some of the competitors particularly in the single classes. Why if a competitor has taken their chance in the next class on the ladder ie: Intermediate to Open or Open to Advanced and then won the higher class do they then get to revert back and compete in the lower class at the National Championships? This would seem to make the whole of last years meetings about the class structures a pointless exercise if this is aloud to continue wouldn't you think? |
