Just came up with a good acronym for DRESSAGE--Don't- Really- Enjoy- Superb- Serpentines- And- Getting- Engagement. Princess Anne is spot on!

An interesting quote from HRH The Princess Royal in todays Telegraph. 24/3/10

When asked “You used to describe dressage as an occupational hazard. Has your opinion changed?"

HRH “I’d tell anyone just wanting to have fun NOT to event, as they’ll spend more than half their time doing dressage. Because Doublet did good dressage, most people wrote me off initially – the thinking was that those horses could not crosscountry.
Nowadays the top horses do both well, but I’m still not clear why the dressage bar has been raised so high in terms of the technical demands. You tend to impact on the horses individual initiative when you drill them with more and more dressage. The overall balance of the importance of each phase needs to reflect the original values.”

Can this be said about our sport?
