It’s a shame to see the two main people who keep the BHDTA running on a day to day basis leaving, for what ever reason, I’m sure we all wish them well for the future.

Moving forward as the BHDTA must, perhaps now is the right time to have a complete review in to how the BHDTA operate from administration to the structure we are currently competing under. Perhaps an independent group/committee should be formed to carry out a review and report back to the committee and membership.

Could this solve the unease that’s been evident over the past few months?

I'll miss Amanda and Gaynor! They have always been very efficient, friendly, professional and - when I was editing Carriage Horse - also very encouraging and supportive. I wish them both well.

We must ensure that the BHDTA remains running on professional standards!

I will also miss Amanda & Gaynor. They are at the forefront - it is girls in the office that take the brunt - not the BHDTA Council who make the rules.

Just how much moaning and complaining they must have listened to over the years. Running any voluntary organisation is very hard work, always being expected to answer any questions and having done something yesterday that will not be asked to do until tomorrow!

I, for one will miss them both, who have always been ready to help when possible, not just for Brighton & Normanhurst HDT's that we run but also for Indoor HDT.

I sincerely hope that the Council and members realize just how much work is involved in 'being in the office' and how helpful and willing they both have been.

Thank you Amanda & Gaynor for all your help to our sport. I am sorry to see you leave (for whatever reasons). I wish you both the very best wishes for the future.

Rita Bundock
Secretary.

I sometimes believe that Amanda & Gaynor have had to work in condititions and response times that are akin to a multi million pound operation rather than an organization of a few hundred members. I must admit, these restrictions aside, they have always done their best to help and have been good ambasadors for our organization. I will miss them both in the office. Best of luck to you both whatever your future employment. Barbara Nadin

I think that perhaps we have another situation where we the members will be expected to sit back and await our fate. The Office statement says we will be told when the decisions have been made NOT that Members will be consulted before decisions are made.

I will miss Amanda and Gaynor - I found them both pleasant to work with and I wish them all the best.

However, given this change, what should the BHDTA do? Maybe people have useful views that can be aired before decisions have been made?
- carry on the same - recruit, similar staffing level, or
- cut costs:
-- run mainly by volunteers or
-- amalgamate admin with another organisation?

My personal view is that the BHDTA central spending is too high for the number of members and the cost puts off potential members ('the user pays'...too much).

Lots of the work is done by volunteers; course builders, TDs, judges, stewards, web site, competitions structure, newsletter [when we had one] .. even the dinner-dance. The clubs all function with volunteers. How much do we want from a central office and how much are we prepared to pay? Views?

The Council can confirm that both Amanda & Gaynor have given notice to leave the BHDTA. The Finance & General Purpose Committee and the Council are giving consideration as to the Association's requirements for the office and will inform members shortly about the way forward when decisions have been made.
