As we have a few non members competing at Henbury this weekend I would like to draw this to your attention: Hayley Nickson is one of our club members and is currently studying at Hartpury. She is writing a paper with an outline below. Full details can be found on the CHDTL website or on our facebook page. Any support is welcome and am sure it may provide some interesting results Participant Information: Study Title: The relationship between bodyweight as a percentage of load pulled and post exercise heart rates during the marathon phase of a horse driving trials competition. Invitation to Participate in Study and Allow Use of Data Collected My name is Hayley Nickson. I am currently undertaking BSc (Hons) Equine Science at Hartpury College (UWE) and I would like to invite you to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Please do not hesitate to contact me or ask any questions if any of the information is unclear. Please take your time to decide whether or not you wish to take part. Thank you for your time in considering my study. Purpose of the Study As there are no stipulated maximum weights in the British Carriage Driving rule book for weights of carriage or loads to be pulled, I wanted to find out how horses and ponies are affected by loads to be pulled in relation to their bodyweight within a competition environment. |
