I do find the fuss being made about driving in body protectors a bit odd - as an event rider and rider of young TBs years ago - I rode regularly in one and it was very easy and a properly fitted one shouldn't be uncomfortable or overly restrictive ... especially for carriage driving! Last year I bought a short backed full protection version for carriage driving (anticipating the ruling) and it doesn't make the seat tighter because it is short. Oh and I am a very odd shape but had one MTM and no extra cost ... None of the inflatable ones are suitable without protection underneath - even with protection they leave the rider very winded. |

Since first post have been looking at inflatable protectors and quite a few state a normal protector should/must be worn underneath hence two protectors to be worn !! Re the jacket a lot say they have back protection (as well as shoulder elbow etc ) A lot of the ridden ones have a tailpiece and on sitting they ride up and the driver ends up looking like Uncle Fester. On talking to several driving friends at this moment in time most would stop competing myself included, as well as buying a protector several also commented they would also have to get a wider seat |

At Sandringham national I saw a notice posted by BC saying inflating protectors would not be accepted. I don't know how a competitor (or event official) currently knows which protectors are acceptable and which are not. For safety, and for buying an expensive piece of kit which we'd hope to last a few seasons, we surely need a clear, stable standard? |

As long as it is a body or back protector there are currently no specs. I would say a jacket would not suffice as it is marketed as a jacket. Airowear will make to measure. There has recently been a discussion on just this subject on the BC Facebook page; you may find extra info on there. |

Can any one give me any details on what spec body protectors need to be ie would a motorcycle jacket do or a piece of folded cardboard tied with string ??. I can,t seem to find any details plus all the ones I have looked at are too small for my frame !! |
