All members can express their views to the combined driving committee. In order to have a vote they must attend the annual conference. The outcome of that meeting is then ratified by our Council. It will be very interesting to see how many members actually take the time to respond to the proposal that is available on the ACDS website and will be in the March issue of our magazine (now late).

It will be interesting to see the outcome in July. Do all your members have a vote or is it left to the Committee to decide.

The Australian Carriage Driving Society has put forward a new system that will depend on dressage scores to go up through the grading levels. It will be interesting to see if it is supported by members when it comes to the vote in July.
The proposed system is a result of horses being required to do the advanced tests when they are really still only able to do novice tests successfully (if then).

I was disappointed at the lack of support for my proposal which was presented at the BC AGM. I spent a lot of time and effort explaining how this was for the natural progression of the young horse. I received a lot of positive feedback from horseowners who pledged their support recognizing the plight of their horses who have to compete under this flawed system.Unfortunately my proposals were not supported and any passion for change. I am saddened horses will be rushed through classes, unable to achieve the movements, dressage thought of as a necessary evil before the fun and speed of the marathon. The BC training committee says training is the individuals responsibility( so very helpfull) Good luck to you all Brian
