Go to Blue Horse Equine.co.uk I got all my heavy horse gear from them, very helpful people and English!! Most of the collars are Canadian and affordable. |

Thanks I will have a look at www.blaser-sattlerei.ch and see what I can find. I have e-mailed the Heavy Horse magazine a few days ago and awaiting a reply but may be better to telephone. Will keep everyone posted if I have any success |

I can't answer your questions, but I know you can waste a lot of money trying to find the right gear. Have you seen the Heavy Horse World website? They also do a magazine on subscription, full of interesting stuff, articles and advertising on working and show horses. I would contact Jonathan Waterer in Devon 01769 540222, he is the working horse guru, he is sure to be able to help you find the harness you need. |

Where can you purchase some old field working harness with a collar? I have a 15hh very HW cob with a neck like a bull so he would need a wide collar may be 10" or 11" wide and 23" long. I tried importing one from the Amish in America but it was to narrow for my cob. (only 9" wide) I tried buying a "job lot barn find of old harness" of ebay and although there are some historically interesting parts its not usable apart from the various hames. I then tried buying a collar from ebay which is perhaps better suited to hang on a pub wall. I am interested in learning to work with my horse and use him to harrow my paddocks. He has been broken in to drive in his previous home. Would a broller be better suited or is the Scandinavian harness collar more adjustable? |
