I now have it cracked. I have set up a dressage arena on my dining table and sit at A. I can do it all now without looking at the sheets. Just need to walk it now in an arena. |

I practice it on my quad - with variations of pace ;o) Have also been known to 'walk' it through with my fingers on the dining table. |

What helps me is drawing the test (in the a-diagram way) by hand in the different colours on test sheet blanks - also reciting each movement out loud. Any more tips? |

Walking through it works for some people, i ride mine, i also have the print out of the test figures taped on the tiles in front of the bath!! so lay and soak and learn, friends will tell you i still go wrong sometimes. If you are not a rider you may not know there are many rhymes to learn the letters of the arena, which is a great help in learning the test. The one i know is A King Eats His Cold Meat Before Friday. The other 4 letters. Verily Sire Reads Porn! not one i teach at pony club but how i remember them. Practice with the test taped to the carriage, or your back stepper can read when you practice. Sure you will crack. I recall at Elvedon a couple of years ago driving in and halting saluting, the judge John leapt from his car and said no halt in this test go out and start again, i trotted in and turned left at C he blew the horn and said your mean't to turn right, clearly i was doing the wrong test, 3 of us had not read the class details and had learn't the wrong test, watching a few we did not a bad test. So always check the test for the event. |

Don't leave it til the last minute! Drive it every day in your mind. Try not to rely on learning it from the paper...you need to learn it from driver's eye view. You could try walking it round the sitting room space permitting. Or...take up ridden dressage for a season then it seems easy! |
