In the past all traders, including photographers asked the organisers of events if they can attend the event in a professional way to take photos to sell to competitors and to the media, sadly most photographers just turn up and do not have the 'old fashioned' manners to advise the organisers that they are on site, but this is the way of life nowadays. Anyone taking photo's at an event are intent on getting a good shot, some forget their own safety in this quest. If they get in the way and cause an accident/injury to either themselves, other people, driven horses, etc., who is liable? whose insurance is going to get hammered? The person taking photo's - the event organisers (with BHDTA insurance cover)- the competitor - if the BHDTA's insurance that will take the brunt of it? If it is the latter up goes the membership fee yet again........Perhaps professional photographers should contact event orgainsers and produce prove of liability insurance before the shutter clicks on the first photo. It is all worth a thought. Rita Bundock |
