Hi Beccy You are unlikely to be able to acquire Duraweb traces as Duraweb is being phased out. You could try the Zilco Classic traces which are the synthetic wipe clean ones and very smooth. If you need any just give us a ring on 01424 756021 |

Hi Beccy, we had the same problem with our pony, even when fit and slim - well slimmer.....! I personally found that if the traces are nylon webbing - I think Tedex are nylon?? - that they always rubbed, especially a clipped pony which was made very, very sore. We changed the traces to Tedman Duraweb, or anything like it - smooth finish - and found we never had the problem again. Hope this helps you too. Lorraine |

Hi Beccy Firstly I would put some meths on his skin where he is rubbed as this will help to strengthen the skin and stop it being rubbbed more. Also you could tape some gamgee or other padding (but not anything which is very thick) to the traces in the affected area. I would anticipate this problem will likely go away as he gets fitter - it is actually quite 'normal' for the traces to rub a little on larger ponies as the tension attemps to develop a straight line of draught from the pony's shoulders (which are narrower than his tummy) to the carriage. Let us know how you get on |

Hi all. I know everyones busy this time of year but can any one offer any help? I have posted a few questions lately about help to get me and pony started and i have gratefully recieved help from an experienced competition driver and her partner. Pony, husband and I are happily driving on the roads around our village and are slowly progressing to a mile or so almost daily. However my (slightly out of shape) grey connemara gelding is getting rubbed by the traces. He is not sore but has hair loss and his dark skin is on view! I have a bellcrown mark ii phantom and tedex harness (with breast collar and swingle tree on carriage. It has been checked for fit. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to do about this. He is a sensitive skinned pony and i am concerned about this problem getting worse. Thanks in advance Beccy Smith |
