Not an expert but I don't think the girth should rub at all. It should not be tight like a riding saddle girth. I think it should also be placed slightly further back. It might help if you could post a photo of your harness when put to. |

I was suspicious of this when I got my zilco classic, so I changed to a longer girth, from the cob to a full so it ended higher up her sides, away from armpits. Has worked for us :-) |

What Fiona said .... I had this problem too - solved it by setting the saddle slightly further back and doing up the over girth a hole looser ... most of the pads take up more room and seem to make it worse? |

You need to harden the skin to prevent this from happening again. Old fashioned method but it works - apply surgical spirit to the area (NOT when it is red raw, horse will go throught the roof if you do!!) a couple of times a day for a few days. |

Hi, Donna, what works best for this for me is to fit the harness pad slightly further back to avoid it happening again and to use a short girth sleeve at the sore place. (A section of a soft thick towelling sock works if you haven't got a girth sleeve.) I'm sure others will have more ideas. Best of luck! Fiona |

My Girth has rubbed a couple of sores in my horses armpit. Is there anything I can put on the girth to stop this happening. I have a Zilco Classic harness. |
