Hi
I competed in BDS exercise classes for many years. It depends what carriage and harness you have really. If you have a 3 phase 4 wheel marathon vehicle and zilco harness you can dress smart without button hole and a smart hat but not to posh and a driving apron. Excercise classes dont require lamps on any carriage as it looks quite daft. You only need lamps if in private driving. Have a look on http://www.britishdrivingsociety.co.uk/ and go onto the 2012 gallery it will give you much more ideas there between private driving and exercise classes. Exercise classes and private driving are much diffrent from horse driving trials

at MDTG we have a newcomer / ODE competition on Sundays when competitors use their carraige [set at marathon width] and are dressed in marathon gear. Not sure if this answer's your question as at driving trials we don't have exercise class as such but this would be the nearest to one I guess!
