Thanks everyone - I have secured a mount. A beautiful Noriker with thanks to John Fisher. (A Noriker is an Austrian Spotted draft for those who aren't familiar with them - a lovely breed with great temperaments.)

On reflection, thought I should have used a pic of me riding David Taylor's lovely old tandem leader Sleepy with Fenris' Mum at the 2004 Trials given this is the East Anglian Forum - just in case it gives anyone the confidence to get in touch! Thanks again.

Hello All Has anyone got a small horse/large pony (13.3hh-15hh-ish) to enable me to compete in the Gold Road Dog class at the National Carriage Dog Trials in July. I would like to be able to enter, but I own three 11.1hhs and an 18hh Percheron that's not really built for distance! The Trials are held in Worcestershire and are entirely off road. The distance is 25 miles but the time allowed of six hours is generous as it's set for the dog, so can be easily completed at walk and trot and there is a 15 mins break at mid-point. There is no against the clock element. The horse would need to be happy with a dog alongside and be quiet and comfortable in an arena with a mounted judge. It is a very low key event so there are no banners or stalls etc. Ideally the horse would come to live with me so that I could get it fit and practice, but a horse close by that stays at its own yard is also possible (I am based near Headcorn in Kent). I weigh approx 75kg. I would travel the horse to and from Worcester and it would be away from 8th-11th July. The attached picture shows me riding Sarah Mullins' precious Sec D driving stallion Yanto at the Irish Trials in September last year with my Dalmatian Fenris alongside. References re. riding ability available and home check welcome. If you might be able to help or to find out more before committing, please contact Anne Dickens 01622 892494 mail@annedickens.co.uk Thank you!
