I agree with the passenger side suggestion. Seems more sensible to me. |

The legal MINIMUM requirement for a vehicle over 7.5 tonnes is 12kg dry powder, of which at least one will be at least 6kg. It is also recommended to have one additional 2kg dry powder in the cab. |

Can anyone tell me what size fire extinguishers are required on lorries at events? Having experienced a trailer fire recently we have been looking at bigger extinguishers and the Fire Protection Officer we spoke to reckons 12kg on a lorry!! Also why are we being asked to leave them at the driver's side front wheel? Surely the greatest risk of a fire at an event will be either in the living area or in the stabling trailers, both of which tend to be on the passenger's side of the vehicle? This means the extinguisher is further away. While I appreciate the need for everyone to conform to a pattern wouldn't the passenger's side be more sensible? Or is there a logical answer to this that I'm missing? |
