How many Driving horses/ponies can claim a mention in not one but THREE newspapers in one week? Warford Brown Sugar ( Brownie to his mates) who took Michael Hodgson to victory in the recent Young Drivers Championships at Escrick can!!! He appeared on both the front page and page 3 (!) of The Wilmslow Express, featured in a half-page story in The Manchester Evening News and even got a mention in The Daily Telegraph!! Not bad for a 40inch Shetland rescued from the slaughterhouse. Linda Rose his owner must be bursting with pride. We should all be more pro-active in trying to get the Press interested in our stories because I am sure Brownie's is not the only heart-warming story to come out of Driving Trials. Local Newspapers are always on the lookout for stories so don't be shy- give them a ring and get them round taking pictures and telling your story. It can do nothing but good for the sport. Well done again, Brownie, Mike and Linda!! |
