Hi Debbie. Go for it - just send an email to British Carriagedriving email@britishcarriagedriving.co.uk outlining your competition history at National level. Look forward to seeing you during the season. |

Hi Patti, thanks for all the info about being eligible for international competition. Did I read your post correctly, that one should register one's intentions for the future with BC office sooner rather than later. I competed as novice in the season just gone and have decided to stay at that level for one more season but would like to think that maybe one day we could get as far as we possibly can ie open/advanced level and have the opportunity to compete abroad which would be well in the future. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks |

International Eligibility The new FEI Rule Book came into effect from 1st January 2014 and drivers will now be expected to progress up the star levels. There is a section on page 9 of the 2014 FEI Rule Book (published on the BC web-site for ease of reference) which details your eligibility to enter the system, at 2* or 3*, based on your existing competition record. The FEI have indicated that anyone who has previously competed at a World Championship, without having driven in an international event, will be eligible to be classified at 3* level. It’s difficult working out where everyone sits in the star system based on their past experience, but if you have ANY INTENTION of competing internationally, and wish your international competition record to be submitted to the FEI, please send an E-MAIL TO THE BC OFFICE with details of the events which qualify you to be at that level. This includes people who wish to be entered at 2* level based on having successfully completed one CAI-B or three CANs (National Events) with Dressage, Marathon and Cones. Any National Event will count in any class. Please get in touch WITH THE BC OFFICE even if you feel you may not be ready to compete internationally for 10 years. Looking at the qualification options for 1* events, it’s actually far more challenging to have completed 3 National events at Novice level! Please note that putting your name on the list does not mean Council will necessarily grant approval to compete abroad, but it would mean that the 1* events did not have to become part of your qualification plans at a later date. If you are looking to be classed as 3*, any CAI-A (including Royal Windsor Horse Show) makes you eligible. As there is no time frame specified, you can use events from many years ago although some events may not be on the FEI database. It is likely that the FEI will withdraw the option of using prior qualification at some point so 2014 is the year to get your name on the list if you wish to do so. |

Hello all single horse drivers. I have just taken over as the class representative for single horse drivers from Jeff Bannister. I want to thank Jeff for all the effort he has put in to the roll. He promises me that there is not much to do but he was always there with answers when I needed them - I will try hard to emulate that! If you drive a single horse at ANY class level please get in touch. My email address for contact is singlehorsexxmm@wits-end.myzen.co.uk (deleting the xxmm). Happy to deal with any queries you may have - if I dont have an answer I will try and point you in the right direction. Happy driving. |
